The main functional areas of infoAware™ are Collection,
Analysis and Presentation of data.
Collection
Data is extracted from the source dataset. This dataset is typically owned by
another application and used in a read/write fashion by that application (an operational
system, data mart, internet portal, …). The extraction rules might be as simple
as including all data, to a more complex process involving extraction of certain
fields from certain records under varying conditions.
Analysis
The extracted data is transformed from an input to an output structure according
to the supplied rules. This analysis and the resulting transformation cover a
wide variety of activities, including joining data from many inputs, transforming
data in individual fields based on predefined rules or based on the content of
other fields. In this phase, the data that was extracted from the source is transformed
into information.
Presentation
The information created is presented to the user. This may require further transformation
so that the information may be viewed on the user's device of choice. The user
defines not only a rule, according to which data is extracted and analyzed, but
also defines the device on which he wants to view the resulting information. This
could be the desktop workstation, but also a cell phone, a pager, an email message,
etc.
